Located approximately two miles from
the airport and ten miles west of downtown Nassau, thousands pass by this gem when they come to New Providence, however,
not many seize the opportunity to relax on this beach considering its distance from major resorts and hotels. This is a two mile stretch of beach that runs from The Orange Hill Inn to the Compass point beach resort.
While it is a popular beach, except for Bahamian holidays you wont find a heavy volume of beach goers on it. This is due in part to several factors the main of which is that it lies far on the island's outskirt coast. The beach is also rocky in some areas on land and in the waters.
Cleanliness
This beach will be found to be one of the cleaner beaches on the island as there is so little human interaction. The only thing to worry about here is the occasional seaweed wash up, which is nothing more than the ocean cleaning itself and will not in anway kill your beaching experience.
Surf
There is virtually no surf due to reefs barriers, neighboring cays and islands. Anyone coming to this beach can usually look forward to calm, tranquil waters.
Seclusion
This beach is hardly secluded as it sits right along a major road. However, because there is no major hotels in the area so you won't have to worry about sharing this beach with flocks of tourist sun bathing or crowding. As mentioned above the locals do frequent but because of it's far location it is not considered the ideal beach of choice.
Unique Feature
Orange Hill does strike a great balance of lack of crowds, cleanliness and relaxation. It allows you to have a bit of that true island feeling, laying down on powdery sand with next to nobody in sight. It is a few minutes walk from Caves Village shopping plaza as well as a popular local Daiquiri stand at the historical Caves Point. Jitney buses run along the route of the beach so getting here can be an inexpensive fare but sometimes the wait between them can be a bit long.

*ADVISORY*
Please
use the same common sense that you would at home here and any other
country you visit. When going to any beach it is wise to not carry
valuables and only enough money that you will need.
